Quick Observation

A good day out at Flatiron skiing the east bowl for a couple laps. We opted not to summit and skied from the little pond area just before the Flatiron summit. Winds were pretty strong on the needle ridge (very wind scoured there) and evidence of wind effect on the upper slopes of the bowl was everywhere. Wind seemed to be blowing generally from south, southwest on ridge tops, blowing pretty much any way and every way lower down but not as strong the further down you go. The snow we rode was a little stiff but still powdery. Light snow moved in by the end of the day. A couple recent cornice chuncks broke off, the bigger pile looks like it was a week or two ago, the smaller pile looks like within 24-48hrs. The area has had lots of sunshine the last couple days.
