We went for the top hat traverse not really knowing what to expect from the ski down on the north facing run.
On the way up, it was clear that all sun exposed slopes are sun crusted, and the trees are all covered with tree bombs from previous warm days. We saw no sign of avalanches from the past 48h.
On the ski down north facing slopes, the snow was great, and we had roughly 700m of good descent. At around 1800m elev. It was much less enjoyable and more about getting to the bottom.
Weather was cold and windy in the alpine, with valley temperature pretty warm. We also noticed a big avalanche (size 2.5-3) from Carnarvon north face (see picture)
We went out with no expectation, and got a very nice day after all.
