It finally happened—great snow in the sun! ☀️ We toured up the 2nd Glacier valley today. Being closer to the coast and sheltered from the wind, this zone has avoided a lot of the carnage higher up in the Pass.
We found 30–50 cm of wind-pressed powder on most aspects and scored amazing turns on a southeast-facing slope high in the alpine. We didn’t see any recent avalanches, though large cornices are hanging on many ridgelines and will be worth watching as the weather warms and days get longer.
Wind slab is still on the radar, but with calm winds today it looks like things are starting to heal. Could be a couple good days ahead 🤙
