Creeks at Cain

The forecast gave us high hopes, but upon seeing the slopes, of ol' Mount Cain, it felt like we were in October again! While this lastest storm did in fact finally bring some solid precipitation to our wonderful island, we are sorry to say, the damaged had already been done. At 1200m at Cain, our 7 cm of new snow fell right on the ground. There are limited patches of old snow in very specific areas, but far and wide it is grass, creeks, and bushes that dominate the landscape. Even our brief glimpse of the alpine showed brush poking back through the previously filled in gullies, and bare rock faces with a light dusting of new snow. Here's to hoping for more snow to come.
