Good snow today and the weather was beautiful. -20 this morning and warmed up to around 0. Wind blowing quite hard from Southwest in the afternoon, transporting snow from ridge tops. Layer of Surface Hoar down 50cm to keep and eye on, was very reactive and showed signs of significant propagation.

Snow conditions were: Wind affected, Powder. Weather conditions were: Warm. We rode: Mellow slopes, Dense trees, Sunny slopes, Open trees. We avoided: Alpine slopes, Steep slopes. Riding quality was good.

Avalache Conditions: Rapid temperature rise to near zero degrees or wet surface snow. 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifitng, or rain in the last 48 hours. Slab avalanches today or yesterday.


Had sudden failures on a layer of surface hoar down 50cm in the Moderate range. Propagated across Extended columb.
