Silver sands

Trapper Gilowski, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

In the silver sands riding area we had cloudy day with light winds coming from the south but as we moved onto the alpine ridges later in the day we had strong winds blowing from the northeast drifting and depositing snow. In our pit we had a few layers of concern that were reactive. One 45cm down reacting on rounds in the hard range (CTH23) the other layer is the presistent weak layer that we have been dealing with all year the nasty facet layer this layer was sitting 120cm down and reacted in the hard range as well (CTH24). The snow pack is relatively right side up until this facet layer. In our travels we noticed that any slopes that have let go are shallow in snow depth and are in rocky terrain. Picture attached shows the start zone from a previous slide that happened a few days ago. Have fun but always play safe!
