Shames backcountry

yan.kaczynski, Thursday 24th November, 2022 9:30AM

Base of Shames was slushy, dark, rainy, and with no other skiers in sight. Stormy conditions at the top of Shames with enough wind to expect windslabs throughout the next hours. No wind once below the ridges and skiing was amazing with 30cm + of new snow before 12h00… then it got deeper by the minute. Skied Eye Candy to Valley Bottom (x3) in really deep and surprisingly dry powder. It skied very well and the snowpack seemed to embrace the new load. The other side was touchier (skied down Burnt Trees) due to wind effect. As it is often the case, expect slightly less snow on that side of the hill. Skied just as well but with a more reactive load. I triggered some small sluffs on steeper features. Back at the base the snow was fully saturated with water.
