Sugarbowl

mooremaximilian1, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:32PM

Went for a romp into Sugarbowl yesterday. Snowpack was thin and crusty until about 1300m, then there was gorgeous powder to the top. If one were being picky, it was slightly heavy with the warming temps, but the reality was that it was SO GOOD!!! Dug a pit at ~1600m that was 160cm; average snowpack depth in our little area (slightly wind-loaded slope) was 130cm. CTE 4 failure of ~10cm storm snow with little movement on a weak crust. CTM 7 failure of ~45cm's layer also with little movement on weak crust. Overall confidence was high for safety below treeline. With hazard being considerable-considerable-moderate we stayed away from open and exposed terrain. Disclaimer: I'm no snow scientist so always take posted information with a grain of salt as our results are highly biased for our specific zone. Conclusion: everyones' teeth got mega cold from too much smilin
