Chester Post Storm

<p>Went out this morning to check things out after our first storm cycle. We decided to ski a north west aspect as it offered what appeared to be the best coverage. Skin track was decent still lots of low-lying trees and shrubs to get hung up on. Upon breaking tree line we observed a variable depth of our new storm layer. The new snow as expected is not consolidated, however still has propensity for movement as it is sitting atop a wind slab in some areas in the alpine. The Precip. particles were small, fluffy, light, and dry. During the ski one of the members of our party dipped into a micro gully and caused a small slide to occur at size 1. it appeared the skier had penetrated the wind layer to ground, on the right wall of the gully and that is when the slide occurred. we had anticipated snow movement so this was not a surprise. the slope was roughly 38 degrees in steepness with trees protecting both sides of the feature. </p>

<p>light snow early in the day tapered off in the afternoon less than S1. OVC clouds that broke toward the end of the day. Light north-northeasterly wind.</p>
