Blowing and slidin

Great runs on the Shames trails today with sun, breath of wind and fresh snow. Steep south facing diamond tops had a couple cm firmish crusty layer to keep ya on your toes for the first bunch of turns. Headed out to the Knolls (treeline 1200 m's) after lunch to find mod to strong East winds cross loading from the side at 3rd knoll. Rider cut along to the rt off the top along shoulder to see if there was snow to slide...and yes there was! Failed at low end of ridge that dropped with a bit of steepness in lee terrain, zippering out with varrying thickness for up to 30 m's. (See pic) slab was firmish and did knock rider down but not buried. Left that area to ride Deliverence meadows (below treeline, open trees, north facing) and found very nice fluff turns in the recent storm snow that smacks your thighs and gets up over your shoulder on heel side turns 😎 no slabs cut down there and little wind to speak of.
