Couple days late Anderson update
Northwest Coastal

Was at Anderson for a few days ending Tuesday. A little late with this report but figured a couple things still worth mentioning: First, over the weekend there was a fairly widespread natural windslab cycle, mostly size 2 on polar aspects with a size 3 failing at ridgetop on the steep terrain off the Remo ridge above and west of Smearnoff. These slabs appeared to be made up just of the new snow that fell at the tail end of last week's rain, transported by strong southwest winds during the day on Saturday. As far as I could tell, nothing stepped down to the December crust layer. Second, overall, the snowpack at Anderson feels — I didn't write down numbers to back this up, unfortunately — much thinner than the snowpack in the Shames backcountry. On Tuesday morning, there was about 20cms of new heavy snow and it was 0 degrees at the hut.
