Asulkan avalanche orchestra

g_larabee99, Tuesday 25th April, 2023 8:50PM

1 night stay in the Asulkan hut (April 24th). Looked like it had been raining up to 2000m. Above 2000m, ~15 cms of new snow, but very wet and poorly bonded. Observed and heard a plethora of loose wet avalanches from 11:00-14:00 on all aspects. Largest one that we observed was size 2. Rapid warming throughout the day up to 10 degrees, and cooling overnight to 0. Ski out from the hut was crusty until the bottom of the tree triangle and slushy from there to the parking. Skied through avalanche debris covering the skin track in the mouse trap.
