Snow conditions were: Deep powder, Wind affected, Powder. Weather conditions were: Windy, Foggy, Cloudy. We rode: Mellow slopes, Dense trees, Open trees. We avoided: Steep slopes. Riding quality was good.
Avalache Conditions: 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifitng, or rain in the last 48 hours. Slab avalanches today or yesterday.
Observed a recent avalanche in bowl off NE aspect of White Queen. We toured up past the partially failed cornice, later we saw that the whole slope had slid. Unsure of the failure layer, it may have been the ice crust (from Sunday) down about 40cm in the area. We were in the area Monday and there was only a much smaller slide in the bowl, so it released within the last 24 hours. Not sure if the slide was human triggered, there were tracks in the area, toward the side of the bowl, but we did not observe any tracks above or out of the debris, but we couldn’t see super well. There were no beacon signals from the debris.
