<p>Great, deep powder skiing on the north side of HWY 31a. We skied NE aspect between 1550 and 1920m. Close to 10cm of new snow overnight fell with little wind, snowed close to 10cm through the day today.
Easy ski cutting produced numerous size 1-1.5 Storm slab avalanches. These were 5-60m wide, 30-40cm deep and running far in the steep terrain we were in. They were failing on the December 13 SH layer, 3-5mm. This is down 30-35cm and the Dec 8 Crust is down about 40cm. It was a touchy day with skier triggered avalanches in almost any open terrain over 35 degrees.
