Gypsum Ridge

well my first trip out this season. Taking all the advice from Avi forecasters we ventured into the trees, out of the alpine and on mellow terrain and the skiing was aweful! The snow is faceted on the top 10-20 cms, sitting on a crust which has no strength which sits atop what I believe is depth hoar to the ground with no support.
We were on the north aspect of Gypsum Ridge. The road is easier uptrack but don't take the snow shoe / direct up track - its a tough trucking without crampons.
I didn't bother with any pics. Temp was nice. -15 C at 8 AM and it warmed a little to -10 at noon. We were back at the truck at Noon + 30 mins. No wind. I have no idea what alpine is like but can't be pretty.
Will sit at my desk and pray for snow and whatever voodoo magic is required to stabilize this mash of a snowpack in K Country.
