Skied the Avy paths towards the south end Tumbling peak today. Windy and snowing hard, increasing throughout the day. 20cm of powder on a crust at lower elevation, increasing to 40+cm by treeline. Skied deep powder on our first run, minimal wind effect noted. By the time we skied a second lap wind transport had intensified and we triggered a size 1.5-2 soft wind slab on the crust, at about 1900m. Fracture line was well above skier, slab likely 20-25cm deep with sizeable propagation, managed to hang on and not go for a ride. Conditions were rapidly deteriorating so we didn’t stick around to investigate further. Triggered numerous size 1 wind slabs there rest of the way down.
