Today in the hasler riding area we had a nice sunny day with mild temps which made for a great change compared to all the extremely cold weather we have been having. Old avalanches were observed on east facing slopes below wind loaded slopes on alpine ridges. The snow pack hasn’t changed a whole lot we are still dealing with a facet crust problem ~45cm down and deeper at ~95cm down these layers were reactive in the moderate to hard range in our compression test. We dug in the alpine on a North facing slope with a 30 degree incline and had strong winds blowing in from the south east these winds were transporting snow very easily. We observed some surface hoar growth in sheltered areas away from the winds this will be a concern once buried.
