Fraser Shutes South

Poked around the southern Fraser Shutes closest to Bryant Lake today. 5cm of fresh sits on the most recent and thinner crust which does not support weight of a skier. Wind has blown most snow into the gullies where it has accumulated nicely. We found great conditions with about 15-25cm along northeast aspects.
Stability felt good. There is a huge variation in snowpack depth - from 200cm+ on wind-loaded gully walls to 10cm at treeline. The presence of those two weak layers also varied greatly depending on aspect and elevation. We saw, heard and felt nothing to indicate any instability, which also included watching 3 snowmobiles thoroughly testing the leeward side of one gully.
