Pedley Spring Madness

Ira Elliott

Went up to pedley today to see what was going on and found surprisingly good conditions. (again) North facing slopes held great skiing above about 1500-1800m, and south facing slopes had crusts all the way into the alpine. The wind was blowing strong in the alpine today around 40-60kmh winds. we saw evidence of a natural avalanche on a south facing slope, it was about a size 3 and ran to valley bottom.

Snow conditions were: Crusty, Powder, Wind affected. Weather conditions were: Sunny. We rode: Alpine slopes, Convex slopes, Mellow slopes, Open trees, Sunny slopes. Riding quality was amazing.

Avalache Conditions: Slab avalanches today or yesterday.

We dug a pit to do a Compression Test on a south facing slope on the backside of the mountain. Snow was 220cm deep but we only dug down 155cm. CT23 Resistant Planar 15cm Down CT30 Sudden Planar 60cm Down

Temperatures were nice today, Freezing levels around 1600m and it was probably around -4 max in the alpine today
