New Years Day low angle play!

Given the weather we had a great day! We rode a pile of short low angle playful tree runs in the creek drainage of Bryant (Fraser) Lake (south and in the tree line below the Fraser chutes). We experienced freezing rain all day rendering goggles completely useless.
In terms of snow conditions: we rode some surprisingly nice powder (just above ankle deep sitting on top of some old rain crust. Nothing really new to report other than ITS CURRENTLY SNOWING LIKE CRAZY UP THERE!! We dug a quick pit on a south facing super sheltered 30 degree slope and found that some of the hoar frost was still present. Snow pack where we dug was 85cms, 10cms of pow sitting on some hoar frost, on a rain crust down at 65 and another rain crust down at 15. Produced results on 2 at 75cms (to be expected since the hoar frost had not been stripped away at that exact location) and on 12 all the way down at 15cms.
The day was spent riding on super low angle slopes on either side of the drainage. We did a few burried transiever drills, we also staged a mock rescue scenario and practiced our conveyor shoveling technique. All in all we felt good about the stability overall but be careful in super sheltered areas as the frost may still be present as we found out!
A short-ish New Years day riding sled assisted laps, brushing off the dust, figuring out our systems, practicing with our equipment and honing our skills made for a blast of a day hanging out with awesome friends in the good ol White Pass!
