Little Sifton traverse

Glacier

The day started blue bird clear. The uptrack on Grizzly Shoulder was hard packed, crusty and slick from traffic and sun, right up to the top of the shoulder. Ski crampons would have been helpful. We chose to bootpack through the very last pitch onto the shoulder. The upper section of the uptrack to the col was in much better condition. Clouds started to roll in at 11:30am, and by 1pm it was 100% cloud with light snow coming down. Poor visibility made the down track a bit tricky until the trees. Noticed zipper crust and generally thick to thin crust on any south facing slopes. A size 1 slab was triggered in dense trees, with suspected failure on the January 30th weak layer. Exited through Puff Daddy. Overall, it was a great day out.
