Little Arethusa

kseddon27, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Rode mostly in the trees to the south east of the Little Arethusa peak. Snow was very wind affected. Variable conditions from 5-20cm soft powder, windslab crusts, hard pack, etc. Tried to set off some small slabs around rocky areas/convexities but will no luck. Dug a pit about 2400m SE direction 30 degree slope. CT14 Mod uneven break on the November crust. October crust was also noted, along with a few more (see pictures) Most recent would be a sun/wind crust below the new storm snow. October crust and below seem to be faceting out slowly. About 12 people in the area today. -15 all day no wind, mostly sunny skies. Observed one loose dry avalanche out of steep west facing terrain size 1 - 1.5 (terminated a few 100 meters above the skin track). Overall ski quality was good (better than last weekend) and lines have been refreshed.
