Whumpf hunting

Yukon

New snow has been falling for a few days and has piled up to about 40cm. Its made for pretty touchy avalanche conditions, today while traveling in mostly low angle terrain (less than 30 degrees) we came upon a steeper and more convex slope that had avalanched in the last few hours. It had a deep crown (65cm) and snowpack tests right beside it showed where the new snow is resting on the old snow is still really touchy (columns failing on isolation). As we went higher up we had whumpfing and settlements. So we stuck to low angle terrain and had some really enjoyable skiing!
