Skied Ursus Trees and Dispatcher Bowl today. The depth of new snow varied considerably with elevation; 10cm at 1500m, vs 25-35cm at 2200m. A thick crust was lurking below the powder on slopes between SW and SE aspects. The powder was very low density and made for incredible skiing above 1900m, in particular on the more easterly aspects where the crust wasn’t noticeable. Stability seemed fine, just sloughing in very steep (35+ degrees) sections. Weather was cloudy with steady snowfall, and consistent moderate westerly winds on exposed ridges but no wind in more sheltered locations.
