Mount Pearce

darrenctrapp, Saturday 12th February, 2022 3:55PM

Compression tests resulted in a sudden pop at 40cm on late January surface hoar with CTH 23. We also got a result 70 cm down on decomposing stellars with CTH 27 which was resistant and not planar. In an ECT we got slightly different results. We did see the same sudden pop with full propagation but at CTH 21, not 23, which got our attention a bit more. No recent signs of avalanches, but there were some older crowns that looked to have triggered on that layer 70cm down and have since blown in. There was substantial wind effect between 1500m and 2000m and crusty mf below 1600m. We did get a few good turns in but overall it was mostly just a good workout.
