A quick peek up Trapper Mountain today showed that everything below 900m in elevation did not have enough snow to produce avalanches. Above that elevation the snowpack depth grew rapidly. We dug a quick profile at 1150m in the trees, on a northwest facing slope. The snowpack was 95cm deep and revealed a couple of spooky weak layers of surface hoar buried 35cm and 42cm. The layer down 35 proved to be quite reactive in our test (ECTP 6).
