Avalanche Control Results Mt Bourgeau

Parks Canada conducted helicopter avalanche control on Mt Bourgeau Thursday evening above the Sunshine Village Access road. While there was a great deal of natural activity in the area already from the previous cycle, 4 of 6 explosives produced very good results on the higher targets. While there were some good propagations in the start zones, as a result of cooling since the storm, these avalanches did not run as far as the natural events that occurred during the storm which ran into rain soaked snow at lower elevations and gained further mass.
