Pine Pass

Trapper Gilowski, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Today in the bowl above Powder King we dug a pit to analyze what the snowpack was doing after the recent warm snap and rain episode we received earlier this week. In our pit we had a reactive layer down 20cm on the ice crust. This layer reacted in the easy range CTE6 risistant planer. The next layer of concern was down 50cm sitting on rounded crystal forms from a old storm snow interface. This layer reacted in the moderate range at CTM14. Our final layer of concern sits down 100cm on a facet crust this layer reacted in the hard range at CTH21 sudden collapse. The snow pack was very warm below the upper ice crust layer which is going to cause some complications. The snowpack is fairly consolidated due to the warm weather. Have fun and play safe!
