Base of twin cairns

bryan.daneau, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Toured at the base of twin cairns from the Standish chair. Profile at 2400m on E aspect gave similar resuts as earlier reports - CT12 SP down on the halloween crust on the 30’ test slope we were on. Snow was definitely upside down - HS 87cm - 3 really obvious crusts - entire snowpack (including facets below halloween crust) were moist. We just dialed it back big time and in any case, snow was pretty horrible. Ranged from wind crust and wet pow. Snow was fracturing but propagation was more stubborn. Did a quasi RB and got my 11yr old to get it to slide on RB4 down on halloween. That was enough to call it a day and just whip out the shovels and build a kicker on low angle terrain.
