Ice - Professors

Significant avalanche debris in upper pitches of Professors. I’ve seen debris here many times over the years, but never this much and this early in the season. Debris appears to have choked off much of the water flow for the last pitch because it is very thin and translucent at the top. Not even close to its normal condition. The second to last pitch of WI3 is almost completely buried except for a 10m step of thin ice that climbs ok, takes screws, but is fragile. The lower portion of the route is in great condition and hasn’t been beaten into steps. Easy to avoid water on the climb today, but it is running on most pitches.
The picture is taken at the spot where most debris from above the climb enters the drainage just before the last pitch. The debris is trenched like it has been hit multiple times.
