Northwest Coastal

Ski tour around the dome. There was a fresh temperature crust everywhere (1 cm thick everywhere the temperature was below freezing) We dug a small pit on the dome shoulder before traversing the north bowl. 1250 Meters, West ASP. CTM 13 SC down 34 on preserved stellar on the first crust. ECTN17 down 34 as well. The tracks from the previous day were not visible in North bowl but the track across was mostly still there. We dug a pit at the top of Zimbuck 1, 1350 Meters, East aspect. HS 150 cm. CTM 18 SP down 90 (I know too deep for CT) it failed on FC sitting on the crust. ECTN22 on the same layer. There was some easy result in upper layer of new snow but never any propagation. We knew the temperature had gotten a little colder so we skied the conservative line down and came back out the Dark Side and over the dome to get back to the ski area. Skied burn trees and out the bottom of Terminator. It was by then warming up and the new snow was getting slushy and very heavy. Rain line was close to the top of burns trees (1200 meters or so) We did not see natural avalanche or heard any signs of instability but the layer down 90 cm is still to be remembered.
