Climbed and skied the S face of Mt Chester this morning. Weather was clear, calm to light winds. Cold to start but warmed up as the sun rose. We skied down at 11am and the snow was still quite firm on S aspects above 2400m. Boot pen was 1-15cm while climbing; sun crust was generally about 3cm thick. Evidence of an avalanche (size 2-3?) in the gully at the bottom, appeared to be from a cornice failure yesterday.
