Slab hunting in Allan Creek
jfloyer , Tuesday 2nd April, 2019 5:40PM
Saw one small recent size 1 slab avalanche, most likely triggered today (see photo with rider). This was on a north aspect at 2200 m. Other photos show a couple of older slabs, most likely naturals from the previous storm event 5 days ago or so. Loose wet avalanche activity was evident on steep solar aspects. Hard to find dry soft snow - there’s a little left on the highest north aspect slopes.
Snow conditions were: Crusty, Heavy, Hard. Weather conditions were: Warm, Sunny. We rode: Alpine slopes, Convex slopes, Steep slopes. Riding quality was ok.
Avalache Conditions: Rapid temperature rise to near zero degrees or wet surface snow.
