Haines Summit did not suck again today

<p>With another beauty day forecast, we headed back up into Haines Summit and ski toured from the sleds around the north end of the zone.
The day started cold and clear at -17C and the cool temps hung around most of the day only reaching -5C by late afternoon. This, along with a light south breeze kept solar warming to a minimum.
The only unstable snow we observed was some chucks of cornice that hand broken off and fell down into high alpine bowls. We did also see some loose dry avalanches in very steep, north facing terrain. TGR kinda stuff.
Snow depth tapers quickly with elevation with over 300cm on glaciers and only a 150cm or so around lower morraines and in valleys. Were the snow is shallow, extensive faceting exists and in one case, this was enough for us to reroute our trip when we found a slab supported by only facets on a 38 degree moraine feature. We skied down and went a different way.
