A tour around the NE flanks of Blowmidon. At 300m, a 3 cm crust was supportive for travel, and not particularly nice for skiing. Hovering around zero when we left at around 1 o’clock, things just starting to soften up a little. A thin snow pack at lower elevations, but higher alpine features looked quite full, with a lot of mature cornices this year. Moderate NE winds with no snow on the move.
Everything felt pretty locked in with this new melt freeze crust, But we did find small pockets of reactive wind slab, on loaded E facing features. No propagation noted in extended column test. No new avalanches observed.
