Rainbow SE Route - Wind Slab Point Release

Snow conditions were: Powder. Weather conditions were: Sunny. We rode: Alpine slopes, Mellow slopes. Riding quality was good.

Avalache Conditions: Whumpfing or drum-like sounds or shooting cracks.


Avalanche estimated from viewing it remotely. While skining across the rainbow SE ridge, a point release occured approx 50m below our group on a S aspect convex roll. Likely due to wind slab. Didn't slide very far but looked to fail quite deep based on estimated debris side. Also noticed isolated wumphing on S aspects.
