Burandt who?

Today in the Bullmoose we had to get way into the trees to find good snow. The alpine is heavily wind affected everywhere and anything at Treeline at any aspect is very blown out and hard. We did not see the same natural avalanche cycle in the alpine that we saw in Wolverine Saturday, but the alpine is much less loaded everywhere than Wolverine. Had an interesting result in our pit, had 2 separate layers fail SP on the same tap, down 15 and down 27, Moderate 14. The 27 cm failure was the recent surface Hoar, however it is starting to round significantly and is almost gone. We also had a failure down 100 on large (3-4mm) facets, on the 26th tap. Total HS in our pit in Holzworth was 160 cm. Look for good snow anywhere you won’t find wind.
