We completed two excellent laps down the Tryst Lake Chutes. Snow was fluffy and powdery to ski on. At the top of the ridge, we measured a snowpack depth of 105 cm. Upon assessment, we identified two crust layers in the snowpack:
The first crust layer was located 30 cm below the surface.
The second crust layer was 45 cm below the surface.
Overall, the snowpack felt supportive under skis, providing stable conditions for skiing during our descent.
Conditions Summary:
Snowpack observations indicate a supportive base with crust layers at noted depths. No instability was observed during our descent, but the presence of crust layers is noteworthy for planning future trips.
