What an evening!
I parked at 6:15 pm in a downpour akin to the tropics; waited it out, as tropical storms always pass. Clipped my skis on, and halfway up to Brockton point, I was knocked to the ground by what felt like a coconut; alas, my helmet broke the impact of the tree bomb. Onwards and upwards to Brockton, I rip the skins off, point skis down, and nothing. I wondered if I had used surfboard wax in my last ironing. Nah, I'm in Canada and not Costa Rica, I think.
Joke aside, not surprisingly, the snow is very wet after the monsoon and not bonding well. I made several quick hand shear tests on my way up to Brockton, predominately West facing, and all slid easily. However, the slab was not reactive to several ski cuts in steep, unsupported convex rolls. ?♂️
