Finger's Pass Traverse/The Knee

Yukon

Did the Fingers Pass Traverse (up the south side, down the glacier), followed by an ascent of The Knee from the south valley. No evidence of recent slab avalanches. Evidence of old debris from loose wet avalanches that occurred over the last few days; however, we did not observe any loose wet avalanches today, even on south aspects that were in full sun. There is a prominent sun crust on south aspects covered by anywhere from 4-30 cm of snow. Limited isolated wind loading on some features. Crampons and an ice axe were used on the south facing couloir used to ascend the knee, but not on the south side of Fingers Pass.
