Little Sifton Traverse

kai, Saturday 27th January, 2024 7:20PM
Started from the Disco at 0745 with Little Sifton Traverse in mind. 0 degrees at parking. Followed good skin track up grizzly shoulder and observed moist snow in the upper 30cm most of the way up the through the trees. In the alpine, there was significant wind effect but the upper snowpack felt right side up and progressive (softer to harder) in density from pole probing. Hand shear on S Aspect showed the sun crust down 40cm. Pit dug on NE aspect, -3, below Little Sifton at approx 2650m produced CTM (RP) down 25, CTM (RP) down 45, and ECTX. Skiied down the glacier and exited by traversing skiers right into the Grizzly West Glades. A few open holes far skiers left on the glacier but nothing to be concerned about. Skiing was quite good (besides the low vis) until around 1700m when it became noticeably warmer and snow began to have mashed potato consistency. Traveled between 1320m and 2650m. We observed no new avalanches.
