3 cm doesn’t make it winter :-(

southrockies, Friday 14th April, 2023 2:30PM

Today at Harvey Pass we found 3 cm of new snow at 1700 m covering a mostly supportive refrozen crust. Clouds cleared around noon and solar slopes likely saw enough sun to form a fresh crust. We suspect high north slopes would still hold dry, preserved snow and good skiing however you may have start getting pretty high to find it (above 2000 m). We saw no new avalanche activity today. Lodgepole was passable but getting pretty mucky in a few spots. Feels like spring!

Rapid temperature rise to near zero degrees or wet surface snow.
