Today at Hasler the alpine and treeline elevations were heavily wind affected. We found a sheltered spot to dig and assess the persistant week layer of facets above the crust that formed in early February. We had easy test results on this layer that propagated across the column in our extended column test. With this in mind we rode in sheltered areas at treeline and avoided avalanche terrain.
20 cm of snow overlies 5 cm of facets above the early February crust layer.
