Hot Hot Heat

We traveled up to 2100 m on Forum Ridge today. We found 5-10 cm of dry snow atop 20 cm of moist snow that was supportive to skis but foot pen was 40 cm (Off your skis your post holing). Winds were calm at ridge line and we saw no wind transport in the alpine. Any overnight freeze broke down quickly with the days warmth. On our ski down in the afternoon below 1800 m in shallow areas the snowpack was becoming isothermal and unsupportive to skis. Thanks to the Parks Canada Visitor Safety team for hosting us today!
