Broken Record

southrockies, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

A short trip into Hasler today revealed the same pattern we have seen much of this week. Previous winds have wreaked havoc on upper elevation slopes. All week we have had great visibility and have seen no new avalanche activity. That combined with no significant results in snowpack tests and seeing some pretty aggressive terrain use that had not triggered avalanches has us feeling pretty good about stability. It did get a little warmer today, we recorded air temperatures of -3 C at treeline, but the snowpack isn’t feeling the heat just yet, it was -12 C just below the snow surface. It has been a great time to travel in the mountains, even if we had to work a little harder to find powder.
