Repeater

Meshwell Boschmann, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Cracking down 15 cm on the Dec 7 SH observed BTL, i.e. where the last snow fell under warmer temperatures. Very light density 15-20 cm HST at TL. We dug a test pit at 2220m on a sheltered ESE aspect and most notably obtained moderate resistant planar and hard sudden planar results down 35 cm on a well preserved older (Nov 25?) SH layer. Another skier in the area dug a pit on a N aspect at 2250m a few hundred meters from ours and reportedly obtained easy and moderate sudden planar results on that same SH layer down 35-40cm. See picture and snowpack tab for details. We skied twice from 2350m. First run was on a SE aspect which had a 15-20cm storm/windslab on the far skiers right at the top while the buried suncrust could be felt on the far skiers left, the middle skied great. Our second run was on a ENE facing feature where we carefully avoided the start zone before skiing the guts which skied amazing until the Christmas trees and alders became too dense around 1800m. Finally, newly formed (last 48hrs) surface hoar could be observed to treeline elevation.
