Playa y sol, y no tan playa y sol

We did a beautiful tour that allowed us to touch different aspects today (North Bowl, Zimbuk-one, Fish & Chips). The upper snowpack changed drastically overnight and gave good skiing to what would have been otherwise terrible. It consisted of preserved 8 to 15cm low-density snow with surface hoar on pretty much all aspects. Avalanches from the rain event are too numerous to list them all, but most notable are the ones that took down half of North Bowl on its width and on its full length, taking down several trees lower down. The Dome has gone through a large avy cycle as well, taking the whole darkside along. The Dome couloir has three different crowns, all 40cm deep or more and running large and full length. The north aspects had good cold, preserved snow, but required to pick non-avalanched/debris pannels to have quality turns, and there was just a few. Zimbuk-one has been swept too and has spots with less than 5cm of snowpack.. Turns on the sunny side created on almost every steep turns significant wet-loose avalanches. A contrast with its opposite aspect.
