Dug a quick test pit today at 2310 m. Treeline(ish) SE aspect. L - SW winds. Air Temp -8.5. Obscured sky. HS was 150 cm. 35 cm on top of Dec 15 Crust interface. 3-6 mm Surface Hoar present at this level (35 down). Compression tests were inconclusive on this layer - no reportable results were had. It seemed the low density storm snow hasn't settled or been blown into a consolidated slab where we were looking. I'd be concerned for pockets where it had.
No signs of avalanches, whumpfing, or any other instabilities. Great, great skiing.
