Superslope and Commonwealth Peak Col
The low overnight temps and a cool wind kept the alpine portion of South aspect Superslope cooler than expected. Was at top of slope at 1015am and the 5cm thick melt-freeze crust hadn't broken down yet. Waited 20min then skied whatever SE aspect portion of the slope we could find as South was still hard but skiable. Overall - bomber melt-freeze crust. At valley bottom we made our way across valley and up to the col just West of Commonwealth Peak. On the way up we found dry snow that was variable soft snow on lookers right (10cm ski pen), 3cm hard breakable slab on lookers left below the peak and then some weaker but limited facetted/soft snow near the rocks in middle of slope. No tests were done.
Snow conditions were: Hard. Weather conditions were: Sunny, Warm, Windy. We rode: Steep slopes. Riding quality was ok.
