red, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

20170316 1620p.m. Field Wx Obvs Report For most of the day a strong layer of cloud and fog sat low over the north shore mountains making vis pretty terrible. A light Southerly wind was present in the treeline and below, while more exposed ridges saw a moderate southerly wind speed in which loading onto North aspects was certainly seen. Graupel and rimed Stellar Crystals around 2-3mm were observed on the snowpack surface and by 1800 pm 14cm of snow had fallen to ground. Air Temperature read -3, snowpack surface at -2.5 and a T10 was at -2. A quick CT, Easterly Aspect at a 25 degree angle on an exposed ridge gave no results. Ski cuts on various aspects also didnt provide any results. If this storm continues to provide more snow, the recently buried rain crust is the one to watch out for!
